#1. The number one tip I can give you when ordering a custom upcycle or a custom design of any sort is to KNOW your MEASUREMENTS! This ensures a proper fit for you or your children. (side note) If a designer is not willing to work off your measurements and has a set pattern for each size, ask for the measurements of their sizes. Not every designers 2 or 2/3 are the same measurements. Then you can find the size that will fit your child best. *(In my Opinion) If a designer is charging more than $60 for a custom upcycle (one of their shirts or yours), I believe you should have the right to have that dress made to your specifications not just have a generic size. Again, this is MY opinion. Again this is for a custom dress, one you pick. If a designer has Ready to Ship items or "RTS's", make sure you ask for measurements to make sure it will fit your child.
#2. For an upcycle, if you send in your own tee to have recreated into something amazing make sure the tee is large enough to give the designer room to work. When a tee is "cut up" there needs to be at least a 1/2 inch or so left for sewing it back together and still being able to create the width you desire.
#3. If you supply a designer with your own tee make sure the graphic will fit your child's chest. If it is too big, part of that design will need to be cut off to make the item to fit your child. If that doesn't bother you, then no worries.
#4. If you are ordering a custom design from one of the designer's available tees, give the designer the measurements you need and ask if that graphic will work for your measurements.
#5. If you know what you like do not be afraid to ask. If you like fabrics to match....tell them, if you like fabric not to match, tell them, if you like ruffles, tell them.....when in doubt express what you prefer to ensure you will like the final outcome. The Designers WANT you to like your items and WANT nothing more than to make your custom dreams come true.
Hope you find these tips useful......I have plenty more to come!!!
